Why a building campaign?
For four years, God has been incredibly kind and faithful to Cedar Church as a mobile church. We have seen Him build a community, save people, and grow disciples. This campaign is not about escaping our current season; it is about faithfully stewarding the next one.
We believe a permanent home will allow us to spend less energy preparing for Sundays and more energy pursuing our mission throughout the week. A building will give us another tool to wholeheartedly love God & others and make & multiply disciples.
Moving into a church building does not negate the need for meeting in homes. A church building simply gives us another home in which to meet, another space to share with our community, another safe place to open to strangers. A permanent church home opens up all sorts of possibilities for the church to be the church.
In Deuteronomy 1, Moses delivers his final speeches to the new generation of Israelites. He starts this way—
6 “The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough… 7 Turn and take your journey, and go…8 See, I have set the land before you. Go in and take possession of the land.’”
We believe it’s time to take possession of what God has in store for us.
$1,050,000. This goal represents the total amount we believe will be needed to secure and prepare a permanent home for Cedar Church. This includes the property, necessary improvements, furnishings, and other costs associated with making the space ministry-ready. Thankfully, more than 75% of that total is already accounted for as of August 9th, 2026.
What will this cost?
What will our building look like?
It’s important to remember that we are Biblically-convicted that a church 1.) should be small enough that a pastor can know his entire flock and 2.) functions best as a one-service congregation. To that extent, a Cedar Church building, whether it’s built from the ground up or a renovated building, will likely not exceed 4,000 square feet. It will be a modest and efficient place to gather every day of the week. It will be a functional and flexible space where a youth group can gather one night and an elegant wedding can be hosted there the very next day.
What is the timeline?
Our desire is to have the resources available by the end of 2026 so that when God provides the right opportunity, we are prepared to move faithfully and wisely. In short, we do not have a set deadline. We will continue to pray that God brings a property that will be the perfect home for us. We are waiting on God to open up a place for us—and when He does, we will be ready to act. But it will be “according to his Word,” not our own timeline.
Do we know where we are buying property/land?
Yes and no. We feel called to stay in or near the 32084 zip code. We want to continue to minister in the context in which we have existed since our beginning. We have seen encouraging prospects that fit our size and budget. We want to be prayerfully optimistic that God will direct us to our permanent home.
How can you contribute?
You can pray specifically that God provides a space for us. You can continue to tell people about Cedar Church’s vision and mission in St. Augustine. As we say often, we want the people of Cedar Church to be generous with their friendships, time, resources, and, yes, finances; in other words, be generous with your whole life—give your first and best in all you do! And if you are called to participate financially, do so with a worshipful heart, for all that we have is from God, who multiplies our gifts the way He sees fit.
